From the small beginnings of a Stand on the Hull Fish Market, Smales has grown to become an innovative leader within the seafood market, providing fish and seafood to customers all over the United Kingdom.
Our roots date back to 1937 when Frederick “Tim” Smales formed a business providing fresh fish to fish and chip shops in Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire and the nearby resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby. Today Smales remains a family owned business, maintaining the values and standards that have been handed down from each generation. From the company’s headquarters in Hull, which houses efficient sales, procurement, technical and distribution teams, we supply fish & seafood, along with complementary products to suit the demands of today’s fish fryer, using temperature controlled national distribution vehicles.
Our mission is to train and invest in key personnel, enabling us to ensure the high level of knowledge and services we can offer to all customers.
Working with our strategic supply partners and quota holders, we aim to develop and introduce innovative products, keeping our customers ahead of the market they operate in.
