Smales are a proud FASFA member, and have been very pleased to supply nine of the last fifteen winners of the coveted ‘Fish & Chip Shop of the Year’ award, and many of the regional area winners.

Featured right is the highly successful Finnegan’s Fish Bar of Porthcawl. The business, which was started from scratch by husband and wife team Huw and Sarah Jones, has been a regular finalist in Britain’s Fish & Chip Shop of the year competition. A former UK national winner, Finnegan’s has been voted Welsh Fish and Chip shop champion for the last two years.
Famous for their lightly battered Cod, Finnegan’s minimize the batter with just enough to hold the fish together during the frying process. Using the best quality Cod, the result is a delicious, crispy thin crust covering delicately cooked, moist tender fish.
